Dream Silently

…and all I loved, I loved alone.

First Day

Not a whole lot to write here, well, actually, a ton to write. My head hurts. I won’t be getting internet at home until next tuesday. So I will probably write more then or stay late at the office one night.

Don’t miss me too much!

In Elko

…It’s hot here. My mother argues with me on that. So what do I do? I go to the weather site, pull up Elko’s information and prove to her that it’s hot out there.

A 98 degree high is hot. Throw in humidity and you’re in a sauna.

Okay, okay, so it’s not that terrible. This is a small, quaint little town. It’s basically a stopping place for people on their way to any of the major cities around here. I guess they just got a Walmart and a Kmart according to the Office Manager for my company.

My company. Sounds odd to say.

Apartment hunting has been slim pickings. I have one to go look at today and a possible second one. The first one is a 1bd 1bth and the drive by stirred good feelings in my gut. I get to take a tour of the place at 1 today. The tenants are still living in it though, so it won’t be open until about August 12.

The second place, which has my interest, is a 2bd 2.5 bath. Yeah, I really don’t need that many bathrooms, but hey, it’s only 775 a month. Someone else is currently looking at it and if they don’t want it, then they’ll call G (the office manager) and set up a time to go look at it too. G has been extremely helpful.

I was feeling pretty disappointed on sunday when I went and looked at a few other places. I am NOT living in a mobile home. I’m sorry, no. Absolutely not. I can afford better.

It’s half tempting to look for a place to buy because of how slim the pickings are. We’ll see though. We’ll see.

Mmmmm

Where to begin…

I went to the Denver office on tuesday. They didn’t have my employee package together just then (probably didn’t have enough time… well, they didn’t have enough time). I met more people there and remet people. I still can’t remember names. I’m just horrible with names. Then you know what happened?

I was given $200 to have a day on the company because I had never been to Denver (that was only my second time). Crazy right? I actually think my new boss felt a little guilty dragging me in for Colo Springs so early.

So, I’m a cheapscape… it’s hard for me to spend $200. I ended up only spending 50 because I spent all day at the Museum of Nature and Science. It was sweet. It’s not sad that it takes so little to entertain me right? I was going to go to the zoo which is right next door, but when I got outside, I decided it was way too hot.

I started heading home then, noticed there was a blinking sign about I25 being closed off so I had fun at the Parks Meadows Mall. And I didn’t buy a thing… except for a shirt from my new favorite store called Buckle. Mmmm… I don’t know about malls. I go into a mall and I don’t know what to do. There’s too many shops. And where the heck are the cd stores? None of the malls that I’ve been in here have a cd store. Simply wrong right?

Anyways, yesterday I took the rest of the money and bought more office type attire. I’ve got a selection that I can mix and match now. See, I only owned the one pair of slacks that I picked up for my interviews. Now I’ve got some khakies, a skirt, and some cute shirts to boot.

I’m getting really excited. We leave saturday. I pack what few things I have tomorrow and I also have to go back into the office and pick up my computer.

Yay!

Well… enough of my rambling. I seriously need a nap.

I Must Be A Sweet Talker

All three interviews produced results. I had offers from all three companies.

Futura was at 18.47 an hour.
High Country was at 19 an hour with a dollar raise after three months plus a $1000 sign on bonus.
We already know about Smith Williams (though its actually a $2000 sign on bonus).

Obviously I chose the last company because their deal was too much to pass up. I emailed my honey and told him too. He finally wrote me back and said it was awesome, which settled my nerves a bit after not getting a response from my previous emails about the situation. I did almost say no to that offer because of our situation and because I thought the sign on was half the amount it actually is.

Which just made me realize how much care I take into considering him in my decision making when it comes to life choices. I know I usually say I’m concerned about myself and that I’ll take care of myself always first, but its hard. It’s hard when you want to be with someone, but can’t be.

At least I know this job will keep me busy and entertained to the point where it won’t be too hard.

Joe is on his way back to Bragg on sunday. He’s been in New York doing training things for the last month. They sent him packing after a medical condition cropped up (now fixed, it wasn’t life threatening. It’s actually kind of funny, but for the sake of his humility, I can’t share). He has to go back to PRC from the sounds of it. Let’s just say, I better get a call and get filled in on everything before he goes.

I haven’t been able to talk to him on the phone regularly because it doesn’t get service in NY. We’ve been e-mailing instead… well, I’ve been emailing instead. He’s poor about answering :P

So, I’ll be moving to Elko in about a week. Hopefully this’ll be the last move I’ll have to do for a while.
