Sneak Peak

I haven’t been neglecting my online activities entirely. Shadowed Beauty would have been up and running fully today except I’ve run into a snag which has slowed my progress. My ftp isn’t freaking working. Hostcolor, my host, has been trying to help me figure out what it is and I think we’re both thinking it’s my ISP. Which means, I gotta go tackle their tech support and rub their face in the ground.

I haven’t done it yet. I almost don’t want to deal with it at all. There’s still a chance it could be with my host… but I almost want to say not a chance because I’ve never had any problems with them before.

Enough about my ftp woes, what’s been happening?

Work was easier this week. I could actually pick something up and work on it without getting instructions. We mostly have been doing asphalt mix designs. Smelly, smelly stuff. To do an asphalt mix design, we mix various material combinations together, combine it with oil and then test to find which is optimal. My feet were killing me these last few days from walking back and forth, back and forth across a concrete floor. It’s painful when you’re not use to it.

We gained a new engineer (I think she’s an engineer). She’s from Russia and she’s so cool to talk to. She taught herself english on her own and speaks it pretty darn good. We help her periodically when she spins her words backwards or can’t find the right word.

The work problem of the week is that I haven’t gotten my fucking paycheck yet. So, I was suppose to get paid on tuesday, right? The DAY OF, Rox’s sends out a new pay schedule and says we aren’t getting paid today, we’re getting paid on friday. Wtf? Why couldn’t she had sent this notice out like a week prior?? I’m so glad, I didn’t decide to go write some large check only to have it bounce because of the malfunction of our financial department.

So, friday has come and I didn’t have any money show up in my accounts. I’m trying to keep my cool about this. Mostely because I have my paycheck split to go up to my account in Ak and then the rest into another account I opened here. So if I don’t have any money on monday, Rox is going to fit in a box.

In other news, Joe made it successfully through PRC once more. And he’s not even sick this time. He heads to Ranger School once more in probably about two weeks. I really wanted to see him this weekend, but booking now is like taking a loan out for a car. Seriously. It was $2000 to fly this weekend.

Which is frustrating. The purpose of me coming back to the 48 was to be closer to him, thus, shrinking the cost of flights. It’s totally turned out to be opposite of that.

Anyways, I did get my refund for staying in a hotel the first week of getting here. So now I’m off to buy a computer desk because sitting on the floor with a keyboard across your knees gets old after a while, not to mention it’s killing my wrists.

Shocking, for that price I could fly there. Well, no, not true. Prices on plane tickets have gone up here .. but still!!!

It’s so awsome to see you’ve come so far with Shadowed Beauty. It’s going to be exciting to see it ..

    * does a little jump and then looks around to see whose watching*

Ooh… I hate flying. Part of it is because it costs so darn much!

I hope you get your paycheck soon. I completely understand that feeling practically broke feeling. Eek.

Sorry I haven’t been around. I’m going to be backtracking through your entries. You’ll see more from me. :)

I can’t wait to see Shadowed Beauty once it’s up and running.

    $2000? That’s insane.

I love the way her hair flows, very cool. I don’t know if travel web sites help any to bring the price down but that is really steep.

  5. Karnov Says:

2000 bucks is a lot =\. I think it is mostly because it is a last minute thing. If you book ahead it is still pretty pricy though =(

  6. krome.obsession Says:

There’s websites that sell last minute tickets cheep .. but for the life of me I can’t remember the name of it. It also does last mintue hotel reservations as well. I used a local version when Mr.O took me on holiday last year.

You guys are sweet. I think it’s a combination of things, high fuel prices combined with the recent attempted airline attack in London. I would plan really far in advance, except Joe can’t ever give me confirmed dates.

If I had confirmed dates to fly, I’d be there.

Oh, and my ftp is fixed yay Shadowed will be opening soon!
