I am a big fan of opensource freeware myself. I have even recently found a piece of opensource that will allow me to play descent 1 and 2 on XP, even In 1280x1024 resolution! I have been looking for an opensource RADIUS server, but none of the ones I have found are really supported on windows 2000 server.
