Etsy
I found this really neat place for selling and bidding on handmade items. It’s called Etsy. I’ve been debating for some time now on selling my jewelry. I’ve just been deciding on how to approach it.
Do I want to mass produce a piece?
Do I want to do custom and unique pieces only?
Do I want to do commission work?
The answer to the first question is no. That I’m absolutely positive on. I hate remaking things and I loose interest in it quickly. Especially if it’s a heavily intricate design.
The answer to the second question is yes. I do want to make and sell one of a kind pieces. Essentially, if I ever became uber awesome, someone who owns a piece by me could be worth alot. I know, it’s just dreams.
The last question I’m not sure on. The problem with working through a commission is that you don’t always get the option to add your uniqueness to the final product. Not to mention, clients can be nightmares (I’m sure many of you could atest to that).
Anyways, Etsy seems like a probably place to start. The key to “bigness” is to start small, right?

If i were to do something like this, I would focus only on 2. That would keep you from being a slave to both 1 and 3 and it would be more creative and less like a “job”.

Ah, there we go. I tried to leave a comment yesterday, but the text box wouldn’t load for some reason.
Anyway, I agree with Karnov. Focusing on 2 seems like the best way to go. Plus, you can always add 1 and/or 3 later on should an adequate reason present itself.
Etsy is such a cool site. I wish I wasn’t flat broke.

I am in agreement with Karnov. You are the talent and if I were to buy art, I would look for something that was one of a kind and jumps out at me (not literally of course, that’s frightening). Stick with #2. I have heard of Etsyl, good things.

Karnov - True… I guess it would depend on what kind of clientel I would want to attract.
Kim - I was upgrading to the latest version of wordpress… that’s probably why it didn’t come up… maybe? lol Etsy is pretty cool… it’s inspired me to work on a few new pieces.
Thao - Sweet, that reassures me to try etsy out more to know someone else that’s heard good things.
Thanks for the support guys ::hugs:: I’ll let you all know how things progress.
