Mmphf.
I’m in Eureka now, going on my 12th day of working. Drilling is taking longer than expected.
Midas went okay; except when we had to modify our sampling plan. It kept sliding out of the shelby tubes. CPT wasn’t like that exciting. CPT is cone penetration testing. Basically, it’s a rod with a cone on the end that has sensors. This gets pushed into the ground and has it goes down, a computer records pressure data and classifies the soil. We also performed dispersion and seismic tests. There’s not a whole lot for me to do, besides watch and provide guides on depth and where to perform the test.
We’re back out at Eureka to try and find a better place for one of the facilities. The soil out here is crap. Let’s just put it that way. It’s taken us two days to do one bore hole to 81.5′. We have another hole to do and I have this feeling we aren’t going to finish tomorrow.
One of the main factors is that there’s this wicked cold spell going on. The drill rig is hating it. It doesn’t want to work or function properly. The hydraulics keep freezing up.
And to top it all off, my cell is not getting any reception for some reason. I was going to call Joe tonight too.
At least I have internet, eh?
I say cell phones are of the devil. They never work when you need them to.

Karnov - ::looks at him funny:: I’m not familiar with Russian nesting dolls… oooooo, you mean those little things that one inside the other again and again and again? Heh… good point
