Chilly, but Hanging

Posted in: Everyday

I’m in Nome… which, when I got here, has been in the negative 20s. Yes, a little on the chilly side. Fuuun. I’m not doing too much. I’m mostly watching mine placed fill and doing lab work with a mix of paperwork. The only other catch is its all on nightshift. This would be my second night on the job… I still have some work to do on that being able to sleep properly part. I slept until 2 this afternoon with many interruptions… it’s almost 2 in the morning now and I want to go to sleep. Just keep telling yourself to hang in there, huh?

The HOA deal continues. I sent a letter out on friday and now I’m in cahoots with my neighbor who’s got her own connections to lawyers and such. Which I’m thankful for because after reading NAC for several hours, I get migraines. Not too sure what I’m talking about? Try this on for size. I was also trying to find this other site put together by a person from Las Vegas which has been extremely helpful… but I can’t seem to find it at the moment. I’ll share it when I return home since it’s bookmarked there.

The new issue I have been forced to deal with is the fact that I have dishNetwork. Another rule passed while I wasn’t present says that all dishes need to be moved off the roofs and the sides of buildings and pole mounted. To add to that, no cords can be attached to the side of the building. Well, to be blunt, that fucks me over majorly.

The way my place sits, the best signal I get is attached to the front of the building above my entry doorway. However, this spots sucks monkey balls during the summer because of the big bushy trees. As it stands, I had planned on getting rid of it once my contract is up because I don’t watch tv enough and I hate the ugly thing attached above my door. That’s in august. I pay a fine if I get rid of it before them of about $50 per month left in my contract (hence the reason I haven’t gotten rid of it… I would like to break even before any cancellations occur). To move it and follow requirements, it’ll cost me over $100 because a new line would have to be established inside my place since I can’t attach anything to the outside of the building. And even then they would need to attach it to the wall because it has to be at least 2 feet away from the building. The guys that came and looked at have promised me a letter explaining the impossiblities for satellite placement.

So, I get to write another letter informing my HOA that they will have to reimburse me for this costly thing or wait until August.

This new year has really gotten off to a bad start…

And here I’ve been complaining about temps being in the teens. Are you at least working with a new crew? If so, hopefully it will mean less bullshit.

Good luck with your HOA. It sounds like these guys just want to screw you over any way possible.
