The Week in Retrospect

I’m tired.
I should be flying right now.
A bubble bath sounds really good right now. Or just climbing into bed and falling asleep.

Being tired really shouldn’t be a surprise. This week has played havoc with my schedule though. I was suppose to do a late night job monday night. Only, when we got there, I putzed around for 2 hours waiting on concrete core guys to show up that never showed up. One person would say one thing and then the other person would say something else. I got fed up and called the job off. So the next morning, we had to go out of town for another job. Got back to town mid afternoon, took a short nap and tried the evening job again. I didn’t get home until after 2 in the morning, then turned around and had to go into the office at noon.

Yes, I’m tired.

I would be flying right now if the army would pick up the pace. Joe is still at the airforce base and now they aren’t shipping out until after may 1st. Which reminds me that I need to make a phone call. Last night, Z and I had an oddball conversation in relation to this. Let’s just say mind in the gutter. It was a firm reminder that while some of us girls might deny the need for natural instincts (or that we even have them)… we are just like guys in the end.

Adieu… I’m answering the lure of smelly bubbles and a warm bed.

Earthweek

Today is actually Earth Day, but the whole week is to be celebrated as Earth Week, promoting green products and green activities.

I really never thought that I would end up associating “green” with being healthy… just an odd thought

What am I doing to improve my energy usage, trash build up, and all that jazz? I’ve been swapping out lightbulbs for the environmental friendly ones and planting plants in the backyard. I’ve also been trying to reuse or recycle things. This weekend… since I had to push my tickets back another week for going to see my honey… I’m going to be joining a group of people to help clean up parts of the town…. I think. I might need to reread that e-mail.

Of course, this evening I’m drilling with a beast of a drill rig… so I guess I’ll have to double my green efforts.

Here’s other information on it… or sites I found interesting:

Friday and Saturday become One

Friday Afternoon - Approx. 3:00pm

I’m shuffling through paperwork at the lab on the project I’ve been permanently glued to when Z calls me. I was trying to kill an hour of time so that I didn’t have to go back to town. Apparently, she’s just bored as I am and can’t concentrate on anything either. I mean who could? We’re going to see Tegan and Sara in concert. The last time I went to a concert was years ago! I ended up going and hanging out with her at her office, while we waited on 2 others in our group to wrap their own work up.

Friday Evening - Approx. 6:00pm

We’ve been on the road for about an hour and a half. Conversation has been entertaining. T really wants to prove he can rob a bank with just ductape. *sighs* Mine engineers.

The rest of our party ended up leaving Elko late due to losing tickets. oops.

Friday Evening - Approx. 7:15pm

Dropkick Murphy’s + Lead Foot on Gas Peddle = Arriving Early in Reno

I don’t think I need to say anymore. *singing Good Rats*

Friday Evening - Approx. 9:15pm

An Horse was the opening band for the night. They were decent. Soft pop listening with catchy lyrics. I’d go see them again if they are ever on their own.

We satisfied ourselves (along with the listening) with beer and a couple of shots. One of our party was a bit of a stick in the mud. She wouldn’t drink with us and stood there the whole time with her arms crossed, scowling. The rest of the girls and I agree… she shouldn’t of come. It really irritated Z.

Friday Evening - Approx. 10:15pm

Tegan and Sara.

They sound so much better live than on their published works… I was impressed. They played, I believe, all of their music off their new record “The Con” and they played some of their older stuff. If they ever came close to Elko again, I would go see them again. Unlike the last show I saw… they lasted for nearly a full 2 hours.

Friday Evening - Approx. 11:45pm

Stick in the mud girl got taken back to the hotel. With the encouragement of A (who has no reservations or cares about what people think about her in general… which makes her A LOT of fun to be around, we danced like idiots to one of the local bands that plays in this particular casino that the show was at. The guys with us refused to lose their manliness and dance with us.

Z and I temporarily became a couple due to creepy guy stalking us. He gave us crap for holding hands when we left the bathrooms (tried to dance with us on the dance floor and then followed us over to the ladies room… see? CREEPY!). The guys with us… despite not dancing with us… did keep us in regular supply of beer.

Saturday Morning - Approx. 2:00am

We made back to the hotel in one piece… still buzzed and starting to slow down. My feet were killing me. A and B retired, leaving 4 of us in the hotel lobby, continuing to drink and playing rummy after a failed attempt to teach cribbage to me. There was an old woman, which Z described best as someone who walked out of an 80s music video, muttering and talking out loud to herself. It seemed like she was trying to speak to us… but we’re over in the other sitting area with our backs to her.

A few minutes later, she disappears and then somehow she’s behind Z and me. She comes up to us and asks, “Are you staying in this hotel?”

Us: “Yeah…”
Her: “Then go to your room.”

I turned and went, “What?”

Her: “You need to go to your room.”

Me: “Excuse me? Do you work here?”
Her: “You need to go to your room.”
Me:”Do you WORK here?” *dropped tone, getting irritated*

Her: “You need to go to your room.”
Me:”Do you WORK here?”

The whole time, she’s inching closer to me. By about the fourth or fifth repetition of my question, her, we guess, boyfriend interjects by saying he works here and pulls open his blazer, which mostly says he’s OFF DUTY. The woman, however, keeps up her previous statement and he ends up pulling her away and walking into the attached casino.

The way she was looking at me and the way she was coming toward me, if he had not pulled her away… I may have had a couple of assault charges. I don’t tolerate being talked to like a child very well…

After she was gone, Z was watching from her vantage point on the couch and I guess she tried to come back towards us a couple of times and got pulled away and then the guy tried to do the same thing and she pulled him away.

We talked amongst ourselves after that, even pointed out that if we were being a nuisance then the hotel clerk at the check in counter would have told us to leave.

Right before we headed to our rooms, a security guy on duty did come up to us, but all he did was ask, “Are you guys staying here?” and “Make sure not to fall asleep down here and that I was just checking because some guy complained about you… but you appear to not be doing anything.”

We agreed.

The night ended at 4 in the morning, with me up and ready to go places at 7. *shakes her head*

The Rest of the Story

We left for Elko about 11:30 after having breakfast and way too many cups of coffee. About then I was ready to fall asleep, but ended up driving about 2/3rds of the trip. T took over at the end of it and that started the Alphabet game (where you pick a category and say a name starting with the letter of the alphabet that you end up on… countries was SO HARD… especially when your mind has started to shut down). We made it home a little after 4.

I went to sleep shortly after that and didn’t move again until about 8 this morning…

Is there any mystery left to Lore? Well, let’s give it a try…

1. There is a bet going on in the office right now on who can lose the most weight by June. We’re actually basing it off body mass percentage. I’ve lost 5 pounds since we’ve started and am kind of depressed that my Lucky’s don’t fit anymore.

2. I don’t like being told I can’t do something or I’m not capable of doing something. I will prove them wrong even if it might cause injury to myself.

3. I get better at games the drunker I get. :D

4. I threatened to go back to Denver in August if I didn’t start to get to do what I wanted to do or get utilized to the fullest of my potential.

5. When I’ve pushed my level of stress passed its limits, I either breakdown and start crying at the most inopportune moment or I get bad vertigo (light headed, dizzy) because I’ve forgotten to eat.

6. I am obsessed with the little things.

7. There are certain ring tones on my cell phone that fills me with dread.

I’m leaving the tag open. So if you decide to do this meme, leave me a comment and I’ll be sure to go read.

On a side note, I’ve updated to Wordpress 2.5. They’ve changed the admin layout, so you might be seeing random weird posts because I’m experimenting with the capabilities.

…where to start?

The last week has been busy with personal life, work, and school.

Let’s start with school, it’s going that’s what. I hate participating in discussions because I have such little experience in this field. Sure I do research, but I loath even more forcing myself to post a regurgitation of another site’s words. I did do better last week. I’ve been trying to draw in personal experiences to enhance my “online character” so to speak. Maybe that’s all I need to do to overcome it. play pretend

Next, personal life. We crazy ass sons of bitches went camping friday night. Beautiful night. It was extra warm because of a storm rolling in. As soon as the storm hit (about midnight) and blew over, the temperature dropped. Z and I cuddled for warmth. We got hardly any sleep too because of the howling wind. But you know what? I got my first camping trip in before anyone else! HA! Saturday followed with us packing the tent up early and going back to my place for breakfast. Then it continued on to help a friend move, dinner at another friend’s house, and cosmic bowling (where they use the black lights). I woke up with a head cold on Sunday and very social-ed out. I also fell asleep about 1 in the afternoon and didn’t wake up until the next morning.

Finally, work life. Well, our official last day as SWC is friday (which was up in the air because the other company pissed our P off when they didn’t have the paperwork together at the end of last week). Monday, we become Amec E&E and we get to find out how things are going to change. My offer letter amused me. First, our P (now a principal) is my official supervisor. There is NO MENTION of KL. I’m quite pleased about that. Sure I still have to answer to him since he’s higher… I think… than me. To boost my amusement, wait for it, wait for it… my new title is Environmental Engineering PROFESSIONAL. I cannot wait to pass out my new cards and see the blank looks on the receiving end’s face. I can’t even say that mouthful in the mirror without breaking down in hysterical giggling. One thing is for sure, I feel more secure in the major I chose for my Masters. I just wish that I knew what an Environmental Engineering Professional did… I mean, it definitely doesn’t match what I do now, which is (fills herself with self loathing) construction management.

So… that kind of covers everything… I think…
