I want my Allegra
My nose itches and is filled with runny, clear snot. My eyes feel like they’re being clawed to death from the inside out. I’m having a hard time concentrating. Life sucks right now.
Who knew I’d prefer the light headed feeling of being overdosed on 3 different kinds of allergy meds?
I go in tomorrow, after being off my meds for two weeks to be pricked by a 100 tiny pins so I can determine what I’m allergic too (instead of generalizing it by saying hay fever) and how best to deal with it. I went earlier this month to talk to the doctor about how the pills didn’t work on the really bad days. What he believed was that I was eclipsing the pills. That’s when we upped the combination of things to try.
With the fact that I’m having reactions right now to the air I breath, I think its a sure sign that a majority of my meds are finally out of my system. I had a horrible time sleeping last night. Allergies and hot rooms are not a good combination. I miss cool climates. Work really set me off yesterday from working in the dirt.
So, what the test consists of is placing strips in rows and columns of ten (for a hundred) and then they prick me with a shallow needle with the allergen on it. I have to wait for about 20 minutes while my back has a reaction and then the doc looks at it and says what I’m allergic too. The one I’m completing is specific to Nevada or part of it is for the weeds and grasses. It also tests for house, food, and other allergens.
I want the test to be done and over with so I can overdose on my Allegra and pass out in peaceful bliss for not wanting to dig out my eyeballs. I also want to wear my contacts again. Yes, I feel miserable.

I know exactly what you mean, many centuries ago I had this too and it eventually came out that I was allergic to all grasses (except the smoking grass hahahahaha). The grass season being from end of march to October doesn’t leave many fun months left. Anyway after finding out it was grass I was given a 3 injection cure where they injected me with a lethal amount of grass pollen to get my knights in shining armour fighting again. Anyway it worked, since then I don’t take pills anymore and only on occasion have a semi-bad day at the beginning of the grass season.
Hopefully they can cure you too, it’s just ruins the summer for you.

At least they aren’t locking you in the house like your dad and I did all those years ago. I know that had to suck for you….hang in there! It will get better :)
July 31st, 2008 at 5:15 pmI have the worst allergies to everything. i had the arm test done where the allergens were injected into the arm. Same concept as the back. I am allergic to every tree, weed and grass there is and lots of food that i can’t tolerate but not necessarily allergic. I ahve taken so much over the years. Steroid shots worked well for a number of years but you don’t want that treatment long term. I currently can’t take any pills but I am using Rhinocort AQ that seems to work well.
